Exodus 37: Jesus in the Ark, the Mercy Seat, and the Light of the World

Exodus 37 may look like a chapter about furniture—but it is really a chapter about Jesus Christ . After the willing offerings in Exodus 35 and the Spirit-filled craftsmanship in Exodus 36, Bezalel now builds the most sacred objects of the Tabernacle. And every piece whispers the name of Christ. The Ark of the Covenant → Jesus, God With Us The Ark was made of acacia wood overlaid with pure gold. Wood represents humanity. Gold represents divinity. Jesus is both. Fully man. Fully God. Not mixed. Not divided. Perfectly united. Inside the Ark were the tablets of the Law. The Law represents God’s holy standard. But notice this: the Law was placed inside the Ark. Jesus didn’t just carry the Law—He fulfilled it (Matthew 5:17). The Law was safe within Him. In Exodus 25 (when the instructions were first given), God said He would meet His people above the Mercy Seat. Now in Exodus 37, that promise becomes visible.
