Exodus 24: The Covenant Meal That Reveals Jesus Christ Exodus 24 is not just a covenant ceremony. It is a prophetic preview of Christ. After the justice laws of Exodus 22 and the promise of the Angel in Exodus 23 , God now confirms His covenant with Israel. But the way He does it reveals something much greater. 1. The Blood of the Covenant (Exodus 24:8) Moses sprinkles blood on the altar and on the people and declares: “Behold the blood of the covenant…” This moment echoes forward to Jesus at the Last Supper when He says, “This is My blood of the covenant.” The blood in Exodus covered temporarily. The blood of Jesus cleanses eternally. The altar represents God. The people represent humanity. The blood unites both. This is the Gospel hidden in shadow. 2. Exodus 19 Explained: The Mountain of Fire and the Revelation of Jesus Christ In Book of Exodus 19 , Israel arrives at Mount Sinai. The mountain trembles. Thunder roars. Fire descends. A trumpet blasts from heaven. But this chapter is not ultimately about a mountain. It is about Jesus Christ. Three months after leaving Egypt, the people camp before Sinai. God tells Moses that Israel will be His “treasured possession” and a “kingdom of priests.” This is covenant language — intimate, relational, chosen. And it points directly to Christ.
