2 Kings 3 and Jesus Christ: The Water Only God Could Give Introduction At first glance, 2 Kings 3 appears to be a military story about three kings joining forces against Moab. Yet beneath the battle lies one of the clearest pictures of God's grace in the Old Testament. Three armies become stranded in the desert with no water. Human wisdom has failed. Their strength cannot save them. Death seems certain. Then God speaks through Elisha. Without rain, without storms, and without human effort, God fills the dry valley with water. What seemed impossible becomes a testimony that salvation belongs to the Lord alone. Centuries later, Jesus would stand before thirsty people and declare, "Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst" (John 4:14).
