2 Samuel 21 Explained: The King Who Bears the Curse At first glance, 2 Samuel 21 can feel like one of the most difficult chapters in Scripture. A famine devastates Israel, old sins resurface, justice must be served, and a grieving mother watches over her fallen sons. Yet beneath the surface is a powerful revelation of Jesus Christ. This chapter shows us that sin creates a debt, justice cannot be ignored, and restoration only comes through a righteous King. David becomes a shadow of the greater King who was yet to come—Jesus Christ. The Famine in Israel The chapter opens with a famine lasting three years.
